Oh yeah, that would be a visual to take home to mom. 
Actually, the radioactivity alteration property was
pitched to our bunch as well, and I was lucky to be
the one to do some attempts at replication and then
write the report on it!  Long story condensed, I used
Americium buttons from smoke detectors as sources,
embedded in aluminum blocks to be heat sinks.  Would
measure the CPM with a GM tube in a fixture, torch the
source with the hy-oxy flame for 3 minutes,
re-measure.  Repeat.  Per previous claims, yes, I saw
a diminishing in CPM.  We took a before and after
sample to the University of Toledo and looked at them
with the gamma ray counter to see if we were actually
altering the decay spectrum or just the magnitude.  It
was just the magnitude.  I then did some more tests
which showed me that even though the GM said the CPM
were down at the source... very careful probing showed
that the background CPM of the surfaces around my
fixture were slightly increasing.  EEDIOTTT!  I was
ablating the source and depositing it all over hell.
(and probably in my lungs)  And so was Yul Brown,
apparently.  Except with a lot more scary whoomph from
the sound of it.  Why in heck he used thermit I would
have no bloody idea.

This may sound harsh, but I'd sooner be able to
believe that time travelling Freemasons offed both
Elvis and Abe Lincoln than Brown's Gas is anything
other than H2+O2 in some ratio.
