If some kind of erratic motion i.e. "jerk" is necessary to get an
AG effect, then it is possible that in the later experiment, you
may have unknowingly achieved this by giving the disk a
*magnetostriction* effect - casued by the inductive field from the
windings. This might have been un-noticeable to you as it is
usually in the ultrasonic range. However, one would expect some
audible harmonics if there was such an effect.
