No, I'm saying that as well as driving itself it also pulses the
magnetic field in (an) external coil(s) thereby creating an AC
current therein (at least this is what I'm assuming based upon
what I have seen of the one patent I have glanced at).

These may be motors, however some could also be generators.
(Belt drive provides a simple means of changing the gearing ratio
so that a reasonable voltage is generated from an off the shelf
generator).
They have applied for 7(?) patents. Therefore, the basic mechanism
is probably employed in multiple different configurations. If you
can't patent the basic discovery, then you need to try to cover as
many different "executions" as you can, in the hope that no one
else will find a means of exploiting it that doesn't infringe on
at least one of them.
