Fred Sparber wrote quite a bit on this subject, in the Vo. archives.
I associate it with the Kelvin water drop experiment, which is
a form of electrostatic generator. Fred claimed there were additional
effects, and the evidence is certainly suggestive of that.
By the way, Colin, as this is an experimental list, are you
set up to do any sort of basic experiments? Something like
what is described here could be done on the kitchen table
with stuff you can get from the RatShack. Do consider it,
I think you'll have great fun playing with it and we'd
all learn something.
Thanks for posting these odd and old observations, I
find that sort of thing stimulates the brain cells.
Also, the www.westlundtech.com site seems defunct. I wonder
what happened to it?

Subject: Re: [NewCandle] crystallization weight change transients
Nick, this morning I came across an experiment by Weslund
<http://tinyurl.com/52p8k> or
<http://www.pureenergysystems.com/news/2004/07/02/6900030WestlundtechThermodynamics/index.html>
that shows a voltage production during phase changes from liquid to gas,
and/or gas to liquid. I doubt this effect could creat an artefact in your
experiments ( solid to liquid or liquid to solid ) but it might be something
to check by wrapping the experiment in foil and grounding any alleged
charges that may be generated.
Cheers,
Colin
