OK, I just now did another test.
I took a 116 gram piece of teflon plate, it's about 1/4" thick
and the size of a CD. I cleaned it with a damp paper towel,
and measured it's weight as 116g. I then charged the teflon
by rubbing it vigorously against the fur of my house cat, until
a point at which sparks discharged and the cat got
very cross and left.
Back on the scale, the teflon plate had _gained_ .8 grams. The
gain slowly diminished over time as the charges were cancelled in
the teflon. The teflon is charged negative with respect to
the cat (whom is now sleeping on the carpet in my bedroom). It's
fair to say that those electrons on the teflon are the unbalanced
charges we are seeking. I'd like to weight the postive element
in this circuit but that's not practical (he has sharp teeth).
Suggestions?
K.
