OK like charges repel, and if the teflon is "pushing" against the "fair 
weather field" above it...

...(not the NYC ever has fair weather, or anything like that)...

... then there is no actual weight gain, right? just charges repelling 
until neutralized.

OK to disprove that one, you could position a fixed negative charge 
directly above the scale, with enough of a gap to slide in the charged 
teflon, in order to see if a high fixed charge accentuates the effect. 
It probably will.

In order to give fluffy a break, you might check with PETA to see if 
they can supply a seized fur coat for scientific R&D... ask for Siberian 
Lynx....
