Indeed. Better still, to eliminate local sources of
noise, just cut the power at the breaker box for
the whole house. That's like a 5 minute experiment,
and it gets rid of a lot of possible interference.

When I was studying Schumann resonances, I went out
into the middle of a state park to get the 60hz noise
down to an acceptable level. A herd of curious
deer kept me company as I set up my kit. Very nice. But then,
I suppose the Houston area is not exactly the best
place for trips outside of climate controlled buildings.
