Hey Nick, Couple of questions

You mentioned that GaN quantum well LEDs (Nichia,
mainly) had some curious properties.

What is your source for these and do you have a price?

Also do you know of a source of UV LEDs or if the ones
above have a UV component?

Keith mentions it's probably better to look at the
LED's as lossy capacitors under the assumption that
there is no anomaly here (and that radio broadcast is
somehow powering the circuit?). Maybe.

RS will eventually move the device and eliminate that
possibility ...or not. But there are other mundane
possibilities which I am ignoring now for expediency.

If there is a real energy anomaly, and if the LEDs,
not the cores, are responsible (at least partly) then
almost certainly it has something to do with
differential negative resistance in the parts being
aligned by the series loop. He can drive 150 LEDs (two
banks of 75 in series) and they form a circular "plug"
so it stands to reason that if these parts are active,
then a super-radiant lock-in has been discovered; and
furthermore - that an Edisonian type of search for the
best possible LED would be well worth my time.

Hopefully they will not be too expensive.

I have no clue precisely why "quantum well" GaN sounds
promising outside the possible band gap of 3.4 volts
but anything "quantum" has a connotation that can't
hurt in such a situation ;-)

Jones
